Restoring the Heart's Ability to Heal Itself

Ischemic heart disease is the leading cause of death in the world — over one million heart attacks occur in the US each year, and there is currently no treatment that regenerates the muscle lost after a heart attack. Damaged tissue instead turns to scar, setting patients on a path toward heart failure.

Mount Therapeutics is changing that. Founded on our discovery (published in Circulation, 2021), our science shows that reprogramming the adult heart's metabolism can switch on its dormant capacity to regenerate — restoring cardiac structure and function after injury.

Our lead candidate, MTX-101, has demonstrated proof-of-concept across mouse, pig, and human cardiac organoid models. We're advancing it toward the clinic with a team spanning cardiovascular regeneration, drug development, and metabolism.
